The B1G East battle between Penn State and Ohio State earned the highest viewership numbers of any Week 8 game, including the Third Saturday in October rivalry between Tennessee and Alabama.

Ohio State’s 20-12 win over the Nittany Lions amassed 9.96 million viewers, over 1.5 million more than Tennessee/Alabama.

Michigan/Michigan State was the only other B1G matchup to accrue over 1 million viewers. No Week 8 matchup apart from OSU/PSU and UT/UA totaled over 5 million viewers.

These numbers aren’t too surprising, as it was the game with the highest implications for the CFP from Week 8.

The Nittany Lions will find it very tough to win the B1G title now. Doing so is likely the only ticket to the CFP considering how some of the top teams in the Pac-12 and Big 12 are playing, not to mention Florida State, Georgia and Alabama out of the SEC and ACC.

The Buckeyes are in great shape, though. 2 of their 3 toughest tests are out of the way. The most important remaining roadblock to the CFP – barring an unseen slip-up against Wisconsin/Rutgers/the likes – is a battle against TTUN on November 25.
