The Oklahoma State University men’s basketball program has been hit with a one-year postseason ban for committing NCAA violations that were uncovered during an FBI Investigation. The news was announced on Friday.

According to CBS Sports, the Cowboys will not be permitted to participate in the postseason for the 2020-21 season. Oklahoma State is the first school to face consequences as a result of the investigation into college basketball recruiting.

From CBS Sports:

The sanctions stem from a Level I unethical conduct charge against former Cowboys associate head coach Lamont Evans, who was one of 10 men charged in September 2017 in the federal government’s investigation that led to Evans ultimately serving three months in prison in the summer of 2019.

In addition to the postseason ban, Oklahoma State will also face three years of probation, pay a $10,000 fine plus one percent of basketball revenue, and see a reduction in scholarships, as well as other punishments.

Oklahoma State will likely appeal the decision.
