Oklahoma tabs key Clemson assistant as next head coach, per reports
Oklahoma found itself in a somewhat unexpected position on the coaching carousel last weekend.
Following a Bedlam loss to Oklahoma State, head coach Lincoln Riley left Norman for Southern California. Riley leaves the Sooners with a 55-10 overall record and 4 Big 12 titles.
The Oklahoma job coming open was a surprise addition to the coaching carousel, but the Sooners have found their next head coach. Per Bruce Feldman and others, Oklahoma has finalized a deal with Clemson DC Brent Venables to be the next head coach of the Sooners.

Venables began his rise as a part of Bob Stoops’ Oklahoma staff from 1999-2011. He has been Dabo Swinney’s DC at Clemson since 2012, helping guide the Tigers to 2 CFP National Championships.
Now, he’ll get his chance to lead a program with the Sooners.
