One Gopher, another former B1G player earn national offensive, defensive Player of the Week awards
One can make the argument that LSU-Alabama and Minnesota-Penn State were the two biggest games of the weekend.
LSU defeated Alabama in an upset, as did Minnesota over Penn State.

So, who were the best players in those games?
Look no further than Tigers QB Joe Burrow — a former Ohio State Buckeye — and Minnesota DB Antoine Winfield Jr. Winfield intercepted two passes in the game, making his presence felt throughout the afternoon.
On Sunday, it was announced that both Burrow and Winfield won national weekly honors:

Minnesota surprised many people with its victory and are sure to rise in the national rankings after being deemed No. 17 in the country according to the College Football Playoff’s initial rankings.
As for Burrow, Buckeye fans will be happy to see that name get recognition. And at the end of the year, to what would be Buckeye fans’ dismay, Burrow may be winning the ultimate individual award as well.
