Minnesota and Iowa hit the field in Week 8 to renew their rivalry in Iowa City. The trophy up for grabs — Floyd of Rosedale — is arguably the best trophy in all of college football, but this year’s matchup could be particularly brutal in terms of offensive play.

Iowa hits the game on the heels of a 15-6 win over Wisconsin on the road. The Hawkeyes threw for just 37 passing yards, and Deacon Hill is completing just 38.6% of passes this season.

Making matters worse, the Hawkeyes lost star tight end Erick All in Week 7, and he’s likely to be sidelined alongside QB Cade McNamara and TE Luke Lachey for some time.

As for Minnesota, the Gophers are averaging 21.7 points per game but most recently managed just 10 points in a loss to Michigan. The status of star running back Darius Taylor is also something to keep an eye on after he has 2 straight games.

With all those factors considered, Circa Sports listed Iowa as a -4 favorite for Week 8 and opened the game at a brutally low point total of 31.5 points. That point total is by far the lowest of any game between Power 5 schools in Circa’s opening lines, and the next closest point total is FIU vs. Sam Houston State at 35.5. Fans can head to BetMGM to get in on the action.

In terms of the series, Minnesota leads the all-time matchups with a 62-52-2 record. However, recent history has been all Hawkeyes with Kirk Ferentz’s program winning 8 straight and 10 of the last 11.

Saturday’s kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
