The Oregon Ducks enter the 2024 season with extremely high potential, as they entered tonight’s season opener against the Idaho Vandals. It didn’t take long for the Ducks to get on the scoreboard, as their first drive went 11 plays and 71 yards, ending in a touchdown pass from Dillon Gabriel to Tez Johnson.

Gabriel, a transfer from Oklahoma, was 6-0f-7 for 57 yards and the score on the drive. He did a great job of spreading the ball around the field, as 4 different receivers caught a pass on the drive. Johnson was one of the go-to receivers last year for the Ducks and finished with 86 catches, 1,182 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The touchdown is also a historic one for the Ducks as that is the first touchdown for the team as a member of the Big Ten. Not only was the offense get off to a fast start, but the defense was also ready to go. They forced two consecutive three-and-outs, allowing -2 yards while forcing a punt.

Dan Lanning has taken Oregon to a different level since becoming the head coach, and the next step is to earn a spot in the College Football Playoff.
