Oregon cruises to victory over Michigan State, remains undefeated for showdown with Ohio State
The Oregon Ducks just keep winning.
On Friday night, the No. 6 Ducks easily handled Michigan State, winning 31-10. This means the Ducks will be perfect heading into a matchup with No. 3 Ohio State.
As has been the case a few times this year, the Ducks started slowly in Week 6. The team had just a 7-point lead after the 1st quarter and Dillon Gabriel threw a couple of interceptions. However, the Spartans were unable to capitalize on the Ducks’ mistakes. And eventually, the Ducks pulled away.
In the 2nd quarter, Jordan James scampered into the end zone for a 3-yard score to put the Ducks up 14-0. Just a few minutes of game time later, Evan Stewart caught a 9-yard TD pass.
The 3rd quarter didn’t have much offense from either side. The only score was a 50-yard field goal to put the Ducks up by 24.
In the 4th, Tez Johnson caught a 2-yard TD to put the team up 31-0. That would be all the scoring from the Ducks, but the Spartans would add 10 points.
On the day, Gabriel ended with 257 passing yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs. The QB also rushed for 22 yards and 1 TD.
The Ducks defense held the Spartans to just 250 total yards of offense. Aidan Chiles completed just 10 passes on the night.
Now, the Ducks will prepare for one of the year’s most anticipated games. Assuming the Buckeyes beat Iowa in Week 6, the Week 7 matchup will be a battle of undefeated powerhouses.
The Ducks and Buckeyes will kick off from Autzen Stadium next Saturday at 4:30 p.m. PT/7:30 p.m. ET.
