Oregon lands commitment from blue-chip 2026 quarterback
Oregon has its quarterback in the 2026 class.
On Saturday, 4-star quarterback Jonas Williams revealed his commitment to the Ducks. The Lincoln-Way East product out of New Lenox, Illinois, chose the Ducks over LSU, Ohio State, and Alabama. Williams was at Oregon’s Saturday Night Live camp last weekend and now headlines the class.
Thank you to all of the coaches who recruited me throughout this process and offered me a chance to pursue my dreams at your school. I am grateful for every interaction and relationship that has been built. However, I will be committing to the University of Oregon. Sco ducks!!🦆 pic.twitter.com/Bgj9uv1D6K

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound passer is a blue-chip recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s ranked as the No. 9 quarterback in the 2026 cycle and the No. 1 recruit from the state of Illinois. Overall, he sits at No. 98 in the overall player rankings.
Williams was a varsity starter for Bolingbrook in Illinois as a freshman. He threw for 2,737 yards and 37 touchdowns during his first season. As a sophomore last fall, he dealt with injuries but still managed 3,196 yards and 33 touchdowns through the air. He transferred to Lincoln Way-East ahead of his junior season this fall.
Dante Moore looks like the heir apparent to Dillon Gabriel after the upcoming season, and depending on how the Ducks choose to use him (he has a redshirt still technically available), Moore could still have multiple years of eligibility when he battles for the job in 2025.
Next to Moore, the Ducks have redshirt freshman Austin Novosad (a 4-star from the 2023 class) and true freshman Luke Moga. They also currently hold a verbal pledge from 2025 4-star Akili Smith Jr.
Things can change in an instant with the transfer portal being what it is, but Oregon is stocking its quarterback room well under coach Dan Lanning. Williams is accurate and looks rather proficient throwing on the run.
