Oregon will be wearing its “Stomp Out Cancer” uniforms when Michigan State heads into town on Friday. This will feature a black-yellow-yellow look, with the jerseys and pants highlighted with black and metallic silver trim.

Ducks linebacker Jeffrey Bassa recently spoke to the meaning of the uniforms.

“It was really special, and just the story behind it, and also my little sister defeating cancer when she was younger as well,” Bassa said. “So, it means a lot to me as well. I know it means a lot to a lot of people. I was really excited. We felt like, as a group, this was going to be the perfect game to bring those out. They’re gonna look good under the lights.”

There’s a special story behind the uniforms, not only with Bassa’s personal experience, but also head coach Dan Lanning. Lanning’s wife, Sauphia Lanning, is also a cancer survivor.

She and her sons drew out uniforms that honored those who had been through and those who are currently going through the process of fighting cancer, and those drawings were used as the inspiration for this week’s special threads.

Oregon and Michigan State are set to kick off at 9 p.m. ET on Friday in Autzen Stadium.
