Oregon to be without dependable pass-catcher against No. 20 Illinois, per injury report
Oregon is expected to be without dependable tight end Terrance Ferguson when the Ducks take on No. 20 Illinois later Saturday afternoon.
Ferguson had his appendix removed just before the Ducks’ win over Purdue, but there was still a chance he’d be able to go against the top-25 Fighting Illini. He was listed as questionable heading into this weekend.
“We’re expecting a quick recovery based on what that looks like for him and being smart with him,” head coach Dan Lanning said following Ferguson’s surgery. “I think he’ll be back relatively quick, but we want to do what’s best for Terrance.”
Oregon is also expected to again be without standout tight end Terrance Ferguson when it faces No. 20 Illinois, a source tells @CBSSports/247sports.

Ferguson has been a consistent player for the Ducks when he’s hit the field this season. The senior tight end has caught 20 passes for 312 yards, including 4 receptions for 62 yards during Oregon’s win over Ohio State.
Unfortunately for the Ducks, Ferguson isn’t the only standout that will be missing Saturday’s game. Jordan Burch is set to miss his 3rd straight game after sustaining an injury in practice earlier this month.
Oregon faces an Illinois team faced with an excellent opportunity. The Illini fought well against Penn State earlier in the year but fell 21-7. However, it remains Illinois’ only loss of the season. If the Illini can down the Ducks they’re in good shape to contend for a College Football Playoff spot.
Kickoff for Saturday’s top 20 matchup is set for 3:30 on CBS.
