Oregon to reportedly lose freshman OT, former 4-star recruit, to transfer portal
Oregon has had one of the best days of any school when it comes to signing prospects for the 2025 class. However, one of the prized prospects from the team’s 2024 class will reportedly look to play elsewhere in 2025.
JacQawn McRoy told On3’s Hayes Fawcett of his intentions to enter the transfer portal. The portal will open on December 9 and remain open until December 28.

McRoy didn’t see the field in 2024 as a true freshman so he will preserve his redshirt and have 4 years of eligibility remaining.
The talented lineman is a native of Pinson, Alabama, and was rated as a 4-star recruit per the 247Sports Composite ranking. Oregon beat out several SEC programs for McRoy so it will be interesting to see if he looks to head back south. Florida, Ole Miss, Auburn, and Arkansas, among others, offered McRoy before his commitment to Oregon.
On Wednesday, UO officially signed 4 4-star offensive linemen for 2025. The Ducks already boast one of the nation’s best offensive lines and adding more top recruits likely made McRoy feel squeezed out.
The Ducks, meanwhile, appear on their way to signing one of the top classes for 2025. The team currently has the No. 3 class in the nation with 4 5-stars and 15 4-stars signed up thus far.
The 2024 season still isn’t over for Oregon, as the team is preparing for the Big Ten Championship Game. After that, the undefeated Ducks will prepare for the College Football Playoff and seek to win their first national championship.
