Sitting at No. 2 are the Alabama Crimson Tide (7-1), the top one-loss team in the nation. Alabama has seen some big hit-or-miss performances this year, but they also look like a well-balanced team on both sides of the ball.
Coming into the No. 3 spot are the Michigan State Spartans (8-0), who are coming off a fantastic 37-33 home win over the #6 Michigan Wolverines. The Spartans are starting to get huge national recognition as well as Heisman Trophy talk with star running back Kenneth Walker III.
At No. 4 are the Cincinnati Bearcats (8-0), the top undefeated non-power five team. The Bearcats are in danger of slipping in the ranks with their close wins against non-power teams like Tulane. Finally, at No. 5 are the Oklahoma Sooners (9-0), who are finally winning games by a wide margin.
The first College Football Playoff rankings will be released on Tuesday night.
