Paul Finebaum names biggest challenger to Alabama this season
Alabama looks like the team to beat yet again this season but that doesn’t mean they won’t have a challenger or 2 in their way.
ESPN’s Paul Finebaum spoke on ESPN’s “Get Up” show on Wednesday morning and named Georgia as the team to look out for to challenge the Crimson Tide, not Oklahoma or Ohio State.
Despite naming Georgia as the biggest challenger, Finebaum did say that the Buckeyes have moved close to the top but also explained his full reasoning here:
“Yeah, I want to see what happens Saturday night because Ohio State looks very good that I think they moved to the top,” Finebaum said Wednesday on ESPN’s Get Up. “I’m still not giving up on Oklahoma. I know they look terrible against Tulane, but I still believe in that program and I think they’ll come back but ultimately I think it’s Georgia. Georgia to me looks like the heavyweight they could knock off Alabama finally. Now I’ve said that a few times before and been wrong.”
Georgia looked outstanding on defense against a stout Clemson team on Saturday as they held the Tigers to just 3 points. They’ll also likely look better on offense in the coming weeks as they won’t be playing a defense as good as Clemson’s.
If Ohio State is to potentially replace Georgia as Alabama’s biggest challenger, they’ll have to take care of business in each game this season and look stout on both sides of the ball.
