Paul Finebaum updated his top 4 teams on ESPN’s SportsCenter Sunday morning coming out of Week 9, but Finebaum expects this group to look different after the conclusion of Week 10.
After Week 9, things look mostly the same for Finebaum with Ohio State at No. 1 followed by Georgia, Tennessee and Michigan in his top 4. At this point, Finebaum believes any of the top 3 of Ohio State, Georgia and Tennessee can make a serious claim for the No. 1 spot.
Here’s what Finebaum had to say about the Wolverines landing at No. 4:
“At No. 4, we start with Michigan. A very good performance last night against a rival — a rival that has had success against the Wolverines in recent years,” Finebaum explained. “Michigan was dominating in every single way. So, Michigan is still knocking off all of the opponents until they get to Columbus.”
As for the Volunteers, Finebaum likes their tape through the first 9 weeks of the season but is waiting to anoint the program any higher than 3. However, a win over Georgia in Athens could change all of that in Week 10.
When it comes to Ohio State and Ryan Day’s squad, Finebaum still sees the Buckeyes as the No. 1 team in the country. However, he expects the winner of the Tennessee-Georgia game to vault Ohio State in Week 10.
“The Buckeyes did what they had to do in that fourth quarter (against Penn State),” said Finebaum. “I think Ohio State will be at No. 1 for perhaps the last week because the winner of the Tennesse-Georgia game is going to vault them.”
