Penn State-Iowa earns huge all-time marks for FOX CFB broadcast
The biggest games have the biggest College Football Playoff implications as well as the biggest viewership. Last Saturday’s matchup between No. 4 Penn State and No. 3 Iowa had major CFP hype and viewers.
The game between the Nittany Lions and the Hawkeyes was the 9th-most-watched college football regular-season game ever on FOX. 6,904,000 viewers tuned in as Iowa defeated Penn State at home 23-20.

The game between the two B1G teams was the most-watched game of the late afternoon timeslot. Iowa vs. Penn State was 210% higher than the comparable 2019 Week 6 matchup between Nebraska and Northwestern, which pulled in 2,224,000 viewers.
Through Week 6, CFB on Fox is seeing a 30% increase in viewership compared to the first six weeks of the 2019 season. This is the best start to a college football season ever for CFB on Fox due to the return from COVID-19 and the huge implications of the B1G for the College Football Playoff.
