Expect points to be scored when Penn State (4-0) hosts Ohio State (4-0) in a clash of top-10 teams battling for the Big Ten East next weekend. A lot of them.

As Matt Brown of The Athletic so aptly pointed out on Sunday morning, Penn State-Ohio State will showcase the No. 1 and 2 scoring offenses in college football:

Through the first four weeks of the season, Penn State has scored 55.5 points per game with Ohio State trailing behind at 54.5. Additionally, the Buckeyes are No. 9 nationally in yards per play (7.58) with the Nittany Lions close at No. 15 (7.25).

Here’s a breakdown of Penn State’s schedule to date:

  • Won vs. Appalachian State 45-38
  • Won at Pittsburgh 51-6
  • Won vs. Kent State 63-10
  • Won at Illinois 63-24

And Ohio State’s:

  • Won vs. Oregon State 77-31
  • Won vs. Rutgers 52-3
  • Won vs. No. 15 TCU 40-28
  • Won vs. Tulane 49-6

Last season, the two teams combined for 77 points as Ohio State came back late to win 39-38; and three out of the last four meetings between these two programs have resulted in a final score with a one-possession discrepancy.

It’s going to be a fun game to watch — just make sure you take the over.
