Penn State appears set to lose another player to the transfer portal. Per reports, wide receiver Dante Cephas will enter the portal for the second consecutive season. The receiver transferred to the Nittany Lions from Kent State after the 2022 season.

Cephas was a valuable weapon for the Golden Flashes. The receiver collected 145 catches for 2,139 yards and 12 touchdowns over 30 games with the team. Cephas’ best season came in 2021 when he caught 82 passes for 1,240 yards and 9 TDs.

The receiver was not able to duplicate that production during his lone season in Happy Valley. Cephas finished the 2023 campaign with 22 catches for 246 yards and 2 TDs. Cephas will have one season of eligibility remaining as a graduate transfer.

The Nittany Lions also lost receiver Cristian Driver to the portal this offseason. However, the team did mitigate some loss by bringing in former Ohio State WR Julian Fleming. Fleming collected 79 catches for 963 yards and 7 TDs over parts of 4 seasons with the Buckeyes.

The experienced receiver may find himself thrust into a larger role with the Nittany Lions in 2024. The team will be trying to improve upon the 80th-ranked pass attack from 2023.
