A Pennsylvania edge defender with a pair of Big Ten teams in his top group has moved up his commitment.

Jameial Lyons out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania shared Monday that he plans to announce his college commitment Friday. Earlier this month, Lyons had named Aug. 4 as his commitment date.

Last month, Lyons named Illinois and Penn State in his top 5, along with Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and West Virginia. Listed at 6-4, 245 pounds, Lyons is rated 3-stars, the No. 13 Pennsylvania product, No. 41 edge defender and No. 477 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2023 on the 247Sports Composite.

Verified size with length and wide-shouldered frame to fill out to 260-plus. Offers position versatility at college level as edge or defensive lineman. Displays raw athleticism as a two-way player in high school. High ceiling prospect based on physical traits, which includes 40 time in the 4.8s. Possesses strength throughout frame. Plays standing up and comes off edge and with hand on ground for Roman Catholic. Shows burst and some quick twitch at snap. Has body control and demonstrates change of direction in space.
