The Pittsburgh Steelers announced 5 team captains for the 2022 season on Monday. That group includes 2 defensive stars out of the B1G.

Star Edge rusher TJ Watt was included along with defensive lineman Cam Heyward. Watt is a former Wisconsin star while Heyward suited up for Ohio State before joining the Steelers.

QB Mitchell Trubisky, RB Najee Harris and safety/special teams contributor Miles Killebrew were also named as captains.

This is the 8th consecutive season serving as a captain for Heyward while it is Watt’s 2nd nomination (2020).

According to Pittsburgh’s release, the captain’s group is the group of players that most leads by their actions. They traditionally set the standard and are the first ones into the facility and the last ones out with a goal of always striving to improve.

In addition to being captains, Heyward and Watt are some of the best at their respective positions in the NFL. We’ll see how they look in 2022 with the NFL season starting this week.
