College football fans shouldn’t expect much movement in the AP Top 25, which comes out Tuesday, because the preseason rankings basically “went chalk” on the first weekend of the 2019 season.

The preseason AP Top 25 went 24-1 with the only loss coming to No. 11 Oregon who fell to No. 16 Auburn, 27-21. Against unranked opponents, the AP Top 25 went a perfect 23-0.

The closest any ranked team came to losing to an unranked opponent was No. 21 Iowa State, who needed triple overtime to knock off Northern Iowa from the FCS. No. 8 Florida also clung to a 24-20 victory against Miami in Week 0.

Ranked teams in the Big Ten took care of business easily. No. 5 Ohio State and No. 7 Michigan both won by at least 19 and No. 15 Penn State thrashed Idaho, 79-7.

No. 18 Michigan State and No. 19 Wisconsin won a pair of Friday night contests, beating Tulsa and USF, respectively. No. 20 Iowa defeated Miami (OH), 38-14, and after some initial trouble, Nebraska knocked off South Alabama by two touchdowns.

The BIG led all conferences with seven preseason AP Top 25 teams, and that shouldn’t change when the new polls come out for Week 2.
