The movement college football players started over the weekend, #WeWantToPlay, has gained support from the highest office.

On Monday afternoon, President Donald Trump threw his support behind the college football players wanting to take the field this season. Trump used the tweet from Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence to show his support.

“The student-athletes have been working too hard for their season to be cancelled,” Trump wrote.

Over the weekend, Lawrence tweeted out multiple times that he and his teammates wanted to play, and that football provided a safe structure for student-athletes. He, along with other big-name players like Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, began promoting the #WeWantToPlay movement.

It’s been reported that the B1G is leaning towards cancelling the season, following the MAC’s footsteps, which made the announcement on Saturday. No vote has officially been taken at this time.
