Proof the B1G has better coaches than the SEC in one tweet
If you wanted proof that coaching in the B1G is getting better, you’re in the right place.
Ok, maybe it’s not actually better than anywhere in college football, but it’s certainly way above the SEC. And that’s all that matters, right?
The addition of Urban Meyer, Jim Harbaugh and others in recent years has really secured the B1G’s identity as one of the top conferences in America. It’s those great coaching hires that can really catapult a league into the forefront.
For added evidence that the B1G is loaded with some of the nation’s top coaches, Brad Powers, a college football analyst for Pregame, released this tweet:
# of Coaches in Each Conference With Major Bowl Wins (Sugar, Rose, Fiesta, Orange, NY6) in Career:
Big Ten-5
Pac-12-5
ACC-5
Big 12-5
SEC-1— Brad Powers (@BradPowers7) August 17, 2017
Everyone notices who’s on the bottom, right?
S-E-C! S-E-C! S-E-C!
Some of those five coaches from the B1G have won more than one major bowl game. Others have won them while coaching a different program. Here’s the latest major bowl victory for each of the five coaches in the B1G:
- Paul Chryst, Wisconsin: 2016 Cotton Bowl
- Urban Meyer, Ohio State: 2015 Fiesta Bowl
- Mark Dantonio, Michigan State: 2014 Cotton Bowl
- Jim Harbuagh, Stanford: 2010 Orange Bowl
- Kirk Ferentz, Iowa: 2009 Orange Bowl
In case you were wondering who the one guy from the SEC is, it’s Nick Saban.
