Well, this is a new one.

During Saturday’s Week 1, Arizona punter Kyle Ostendorp kicked the ball into his own teammate, Josh Donovan. The ball ricocheted into the end zone, and San Diego State recovered for the touchdown.

We’ve not seen this one before:

“He took his normal stance, but usually the punter’s 15 yards deep,” Gary Danielson said on the call for CBS Sports. “He was only 11, so that was the distortion that actually hit Donovan in his left hand.”

The score in the third quarter made it 31-17, with Arizona leading.

Ostendorp is one of the top punters in the nation and was named a second-team preseason All-American by the Associated Press.
