Purdue falls, Michigan State and Ohio State rise in the new AP Top 25
The Week 6 college basketball AP Top 25 rankings came out on Monday. Three teams from the B1G are ranked on the list released by The AP.
Purdue fell to No. 3 after losing on a buzzer-beater to Rutgers last week. However, the Boilermakers rebounded after the loss with a thrilling 82-72 overtime win over N.C. State on Sunday. Ohio State rose to No. 15 after beating No. 22 Wisconsin 73-55 on Saturday. Lastly, Michigan State moved from No. 19 to No. 12 after its win over Penn State.
While only 3 teams from the B1G are ranked at the moment, there could be some more who break into the Top 25 very soon. Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota are all receiving Top 25 votes as well. The Badgers fell out of the top 25 after the Buckeye loss.
Based on the number of votes they’re getting, Wisconsin would be ranked No. 26, Illinois would be ranked No. 31, Michigan would be ranked at No. 34, and Minnesota would come in at No. 37.
Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois are all off to great starts. Michigan has had some struggles early on in the season, but there is still a lot of basketball left to be played.
The B1G could see even more teams in the Top 25 as the season goes on.
