Art Briles could potentially be receiving his second chance in the coaching industry, according to a recent report.

Per Patrick Magee of the Biloxi Sun-Herald, Briles is on the campus of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, interviewing for the vacant offensive coordinator position. This would be his first coaching gig since being terminated at Baylor in May 2016 following a scandal that rocked the college football world.

Though Briles has been somewhat of a disgraced figure in the college football world, his ability to coach has never really been in question, especially when it comes to high-powered offense. In his eight season with the Bears, Briles compiled a 65-37 record and hit 10 wins or more in four of his final five seasons in Waco.

Baylor fired Briles in the spring of 2016 following his alleged mishandling of sexual assault cases that involved football players. In August 2018, Briles accepted a head coaching position in the Italian Football League.
