Reports have already surfaced that the B1G is expected to move next month’s men’s basketball tournament away from Chicago, but a Thursday morning report has shed some light on the potential venue to be used in Indianapolis.

Last Friday, a report surfaced with Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez indicating that the conference is expected to shift the location for the tournament. Shifting the tournament to Indianapolis would cut down on travel a bit with teams that make the NCAA Tournament able to simply stay in town following the B1G Tournament.

On Thursday, WISH-TV Sports Director Anthony Calhoun out of Indianapolis reported that the venue the conference is expected to use with the move is Lucas Oil Stadium. That is the home of the Indianapolis Colts and a traditional football stadium.

In the past, the conference has traditionally used Banker’s Life Fieldhouse, the home of the Pacers, to host the tournament. However, Lucas Oil has plenty of experience as a hoops venue.

Lucas Oil Stadium was the venue for the Final Four in 2010 and 2015 and has been used for other NCAA Tournament games since 2009. It will also be one of the main venues used to host this year’s NCAA Tournament in Indianapolis.
