The college football bowl picture will look a little different beginning in 2020.
On Tuesday, Brett McMurphy of Stadium reported of a few affiliation changes in bowl games starting in the 2020 season. A few of those will affect the B1G, which will see a change in scenery within the next few years.
Here are some of the changes, according to McMurphy:
- Las Vegas Bowl: The bowl will shift from UNLV’s home stadium to the new NFL Stadium. Over the next six years, the B1G and SEC will each make three appearances to play a Pac-12 opponents.
- Belk Bowl: It will annually feature and ACC team and will rotate among B1G and SEC opponents.
- Los Angeles Bowl: Will feature the Pac-12 vs. Mountain Weet
- Holiday Bowl: The B1G will not be affiliated with the Holiday Bowl, as it will have ties to the Las Vegas Bowl and Belk Bowl. The Pac-12 and ACC will now meet annually.
- Gator Bowl: The bowl will feature the ACC vs. SEC.
- Music City Bowl: The game in Nashville will feature the SEC vs. B1G every year.
- Outback Bowl: The Tampa-based bowl game will still feature the B1G and SEC, unless the B1G earns a bid to the Orange Bowl. In that scenario, the B1G will be replaced by an ACC team.
- Arizona Bowl: Will put the Mountain West and MAC against each other.
- Myrtle Beach Bowl: The new bowl game will feature teams from C-USA, MAC and Sun Belt conferences. Each conference will appear four times in the six years.
