Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor missed Sunday’s game because a team doctor reportedly punctured the QB’s lung accidentally while administering a pain killer injection into his ribcage.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news
“The Chargers’ team doctor accidentally punctured his own quarterback Tyron Taylor’s lung just before kickoff Sunday while trying to administer a pain-killing injection to the quarterback’s cracked ribs, league and team sources told ESPN,” Schefter reported.

The medical mishap resulted in rookie Justin Herbert getting the start as the Chargers took on the Kansas City Chiefs. He completed 22-of-33 pass attempts for 311 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for a score during the contest.
Los Angeles lost to Kansas City 23-20 in overtime.
Taylor was the starter for the Chargers in the team’s season-opening victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. He completed 16-of-30 passes for 208 yards. He did not have any touchdown passes or interceptions in the game.
