Chalk this one up under the bizarre stories from the world of college football. A Los Angeles area football coach is under investigation for charging rent while allowing players to sleep in the locker room, according to a report from KCAL 9.

The incident involves Pierce College head football coach Carlos Woods, who allowed players to stay in the team’s locker room while charging them rent. Woods is under internal investigation for charging some players $300-$400 who were kicked out of their apartments for failing to pay rent.

One player came forward on the matter, saying he became homeless and was forced to live in his car after paying his coach rent money. That player said there were at least four others who were paying rent to the coach to sleep in the locker room.

Players also allege that as many as 30 players lived in a 3-bedroom apartment at one time, with some being evicted for not paying rent. They referred to the living conditions as a “camp” or “prison.”

Woods is in his second season as the head coach at Pierce College. The school is a member of the California Community College Athletic Association. Woods declined to comment on the matter.
