A college football player has been arrested in Gwinnett County, Georgia in connection to a murder, according to a report from FOX 5.

Georgetown University football player Dijon Williams was reportedly arrested in Georgia by U.S. Marshals after being wanted for murder. He was located and arrested in a private residence, per the report.

Details regarding the crime that occurred have not been released.

The school released a statement regarding the matter:

“Georgetown University became aware of charges against Dijon Williams this evening. While we are working to learn more information, we will cooperate fully with any investigation and we stand prepared to offer resources to members of our community who may be affected by this news. At this time, there are no indications that the alleged crime took place near the University.”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Georgetown University was not participating in any fall sports. The school said that fall student-athletes are not currently on campus.

Williams has been immediately suspended by the football team at Georgetown.
