The XFL will gets its third attempt at stability.

According to a report from Sportico’s Scott Soshnick, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has partnered with Gerry Cardinale’s private equity investment firm RedBird Capital to buy the XFL for $15 million. Johnson and RedBird Capital reportedly split the cost.

Sportico’s report came before the XFL was set to be auctioned off.

The XFL was forced to shut down all operations in early April due to the COVID-19 pandemic, laying off all of its employees, as well. It was the league’s second attempt at functioning as a football league.

The XFL filed for bankruptcy and previous owner Vince McMahon said he spent over $200 million on the league. He had no plans of repurchasing the league in an attempt to resurrect it after it came to a screeching halt.
