Report: Former Boise State RB killed after altercation with police
A former Boise State running back is dead following a disturbance and ensuing altercation at a Georgia hotel, according to reports.
The Augusta Chronicle is reporting that Jack Fields Jr. was shot to death by a police officer after stabbing the officer multiple times.
The officer is being treated for his injuries. Fields was reported dead at the scene.
From The Augusta Chronicle:
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, around 8:11 p.m., the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the hotel in reference to a “trouble with subject call.” Richmond County Deputy Stephan Psillos responded to the location and encountered Fields in the lobby of the hotel.
Psillos attempted to place handcuffs on Fields, but Fields resisted arrested. Fields pulled a knife from his coat pocket and stabbed Deputy Psillos multiple times. Psillos fired his service weapon at Fields.
Psillos was transported to AU Medical Center, where he is being treated for his injuries. Members of the sheriff’s office performed first aid on Fields, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the GBI.
Fields played at Boise State from 2012 through 2015.
