Report: Grand Canyon basketball player dies in tragic car accident days after playing in NCAA Tournament

Oscar Frayer, a player on Grand Canyon University’s men’s basketball team, has reportedly passed away following a tragic car accident, according to WAC Hoops Digest. His death comes just days after the team played in the NCAA Tournament.

Frayer reportedly died from injuries sustained in the accident on Tuesday. Details about incident were not mentioned in the report.

Frayer was a redshirt senior forward for Grand Canyon this season and studied communications. He averaged 6.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for the Antelopes, which finished the season 17-7.

Grand Canyon played Iowa in the first round matchup of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday.

Frayer was a native of Oakland, California. No further details of the accident have been released at this time.
