Will Wade is out as the LSU head coach. CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein reported the news on Saturday afternoon. The news comes one day after the Tigers were eliminated in the SEC Tournament, falling 79-67 to Arkansas in the quarterfinal round.

Kevin Nickelberry will be the interim head coach for the remainder of the season, per Rothstein. LSU ended the year with a 22-11 overall record and a 9-9 mark in SEC play.

The news comes just days after LSU received a notice of allegations related to the men’s basketball and football programs from the NCAA. The notice stems from multiple allegations, which includes the program’s ties to the 2017 FBI investigation that rocked college basketball.

“Per NCAA rules and procedures, LSU is unable to comment on any aspect of the ongoing case,” said Cody Worsham, an LSU spokesperson, per ESPN. “We will continue to cooperate fully with the IARP as we work together toward a resolution.”

Wade spent 5 seasons as the head coach at LSU. In that time, the Tigers went 105-51. He’s also had stops at Chattanooga and VCU.
