After a 21-year run, ESPN is ending the print edition of its magazine publication, according to a report.

John Ourand of Sports Business Journal reported on Tuesday that the print edition of ESPN the Magazine will be ended in September 2019. According to the report, the publication has been losing money for several years and the company looks to continue to promote its digital presence.

From Sports Business Journal:

In an emailed statement, ESPN said, “Consumer habits are evolving rapidly, and this requires ESPN to evolve as well. The only change here is that we are moving away from printing it on paper and sending it in the mail…Our data shows the vast majority of readers already consume our print journalism on digital platforms, and this approach will maximize our reach and impact.”

According to the report, ESPN does not have immediate plans to layoff current employees working on the magazine, but the loss of jobs for a handful of individuals may come at a later date.

ESPN the Magazine launched in March 1998.
