Two of the best quarterbacks in the B1G might be playing the final games of their college football careers.

On Friday, Matt Miller of Bleacher Report hinted that Michigan quarterback Shea Patterson and Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins are expected to declare for the 2019 NFL Draft following the end of the season. Miller did say there were no guarantees, but that sources close to both players said the interest level from both quarterbacks in pursuing the NFL is high.

From Bleacher Report:

Multiple sources reached out soon after it published and disclosed the offseason plans of Haskins. Barring injury or a massive drop-off in play down the stretch, the plan is for Haskins to leave for the NFL draft after this season.

Another underclassman quarterback expected to declare is Michigan’s Shea Patterson. The source explained that Patterson and Haskins both feel they can drive their stock up in this class and will benefit by not competing with the 2020 group that includes Jake Fromm and Tua Tagovailoa. Patterson, a transfer from Ole Miss, also has prized recruit Dylan McCaffrey behind him on the depth chart and looking poised to play next fall. This could, of course, change, but currently, multiple sources expect Michigan to lose Patterson.

Haskins has put up spectacular numbers this season and has been one of the top candidates in the Heisman Trophy race all season. The Buckeyes gunslinger has thrown for 3,280 yards and 33 touchdowns while completing passes at a 69 percent clip.

Patterson’s numbers haven’t been quite as big, but he’s been incredibly accurate and has kept Michigan in the hunt for the College Football Playoff. In his lone season with the Wolverines, he’s thrown for 1,927 yards and 17 touchdowns with just three interceptions.

Neither quarterback has talked about his future yet. And it’s unlikely that either will mention the NFL until the end of the season. Don’t expect any official word until the 2018 season wraps up.

But it sounds like there may be a changing of the guard again in Ann Arbor and Columbus.
