Report: Tennessee football player suffered from gunshot wound over the weekend
A Tennessee football player was taken to the hospital over the weekend after suffering a gunshot wound in his leg because of an incident that occurred at a Knoxville bar, according to reports.
The Knoxville News Sentinel is reporting that Brandon Davis was taken to the UT Medical Center and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The incident reportedly occurred around 12:30 a.m. Saturday at Uptown Bar & Grill.
Davis claims he was inside the establishment when he heard a gunshot and felt pain in his leg. He “had no idea who shot him or why,” according to teammate Trevon Flowers. He was also inside the bar when the incident occurred.
According to the Knoxville News, no shell casings or blood was found inside the bar, and nobody claimed to hear the sound of a gunshot. The police report states that one officer overheard some say that Davis shot himself in the leg.
Davis is a defensive back for the Volunteers and will be a redshirt sophomore this fall.
