Report: Washington State senior football player dies at 22

Washington State senior football player Bryce Beekman died on Tuesday night, according to a report from The Spokesman-Review.

Pullman Police Commander Jake Opgenorth confirmed the death to The Spokesman-Review. The cause of death and other details surrounding the situation were not immediately. Beekman was just 22 years old.

Beekman was from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and was a redshirt senior defensive back for the Cougars. He started all 13 games at Washington State last season. He totaled 60 tackles, one interception and forced one fumble during the 2019 season.

Before arriving at Washington State, Beekman spent two seasons at Arizona Western College. He transferred to Washington State last season and carved out a role for himself as a starter.

Beekman is the older brother of Reece Beekman, one of the top basketball recruits in the 2020 class.
