Middle Tennessee State outgained Miami in total yards accounted for 507-to-367. The Blue Raiders also forced 3 turnovers from Miami.

MTSU defeated a ranked Miami team one week after the Hurricanes lost to No. 24 Texas A&M 17-9 in College Station. Miami is in its first season with Mario Cristobal, and is 2-2 through four games.

Middle Tennessee State (3-1) is set to open C-USA play on Friday night versus UTSA (2-2).
