Scott Van Pelt has made his pick against the spread in Iowa’s Week 12 game against Illinois.

Van Pelt picks his favorite games in his weekly “winners” segment before each college football Saturday. Iowa’s matchup against the Illini made his card this week.

Van Pelt is picking the Illini plus 3 on Saturday. But as he noted, that may not necessarily be a bad thing for the Hawkeyes. Van Pelt is 4-11-1 all-time when picking Iowa on “Winners,” per ESPN.

“Great news for Iowa fans, I’m picking against you this week,” Van Pelt said. “Your record when I do is insanely good. Illinois has won 3 of 4. Coach B against his alma mater getting 3. We’re taking ’em.”

Iowa enters this game with an 8-2 record on the year. The Hawkeyes can clinch a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game with a victory on Saturday vs. the Illini.

Illinois is part of a five-way tie for second place in the Big Ten West with a record of 3-4 in conference play. The Illini sit at 5-5 overall this season and need to win one more game in order to reach bowl eligibility.

Kickoff on Saturday is set for 3:30 p.m. ET.
