SEC QB's 2021 season in serious jeopardy following 'severe' arm injury
The quarterback situation for LSU coach Ed Orgeron just got a little tougher, unfortunately.
LSU’s fifth-year QB Myles Brennan is out of the equation for now after suffering an arm injury. The school released a statement on the quarterback Monday night, but did not provide many details.
Brennan will undergo surgery for the arm injury, per the release.

Brennan had been expected to compete during the preseason with sophomore Max Johnson for the Tigers starting signal caller job. Previously, Orgeron had indicated he wouldn’t make a call on the starter role until the week before the opener against UCLA set for Sept. 4.
The injury opens the door for Johnson, who posted a 2-0 record as a starter during his freshman season. He completed 58.7% of his passes for 1,069 yards with eight touchdowns and just one interception. Johnson also is a threat with his legs, and he also gained 119 yards and scored twice on the ground.
Johnson’s opportunity last season came after Brennan suffered a rare season-ending abdominal injury during LSU’s third game of the season against Missouri. After assuming the starting role for the first time last fall, Brennan converted 60.3% from the air, covering 1,112 yards and scoring 11 touchdowns with three interceptions before suffering the season-ending tear.
