Tuesday evening, another running back opted to head for the transfer portal. Though another portal entry out of the SEC is not particularly noteworthy on its own, this one included an interesting distinction.

The player is Mississippi State running back Dillon Johnson. Johnson has over 2,000 yards from scrimmage in his career and was the second-leading rusher for the Bulldogs in 2022 with 488 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns.

Johnson was a versatile piece for the Bulldogs and posted 773 total yards of offense. He also led all Mississippi State running backs with 5.5 yards per carry.

What makes Johnson’s move so noteworthy is he took aim at his head coach in his announcement. Take a look:

“With that being said, since I am not very tough, and (Coach Mike) Leach is glad I am leaving, I will be entering my name into the transfer portal with the hopes of finding a more fit playing environment for me. Thank you,” Johnson wrote.
