Disclaimer: This isn’t the start of a joke. This actually happened.

USC kicker Parker Lewis was ejected for targeting on the first play of the Trojans’ game against Stanford Saturday night.

Yes, you read that right. A kicker was ejected for targeting. You don’t see that very often.

Lewis isn’t the first special teams player to be ejected for targeting. Liberty punter Aidan Alves was tossed in 2018 for it. That shows you how long it’s been since we’ve seen anything like what we saw Saturday night.

Don’t worry. USC came prepared and has backup kicker Alex Stadthaus, is dressed and ready to take over for Lewis for PATs, field goals and kickoffs.

Stanford has a 7-0 lead over USC in the first quarter of the matchup.

This game is adding a whole new meaning to “Pac-12 After Dark.”
