Apparently the B1G is filled with some of the most intriguing coaches in college football.

That’s the case according to Yahoo! Sports writer Pat Forde. Six coaches from the B1G were mentioned on Forde’s list, which ranked the 25 most intriguing coaches heading into the 2017 season.

Here were the names mentioned in the rankings:

  • No. 3: Jim Harbaugh
  • No. 9: Mark Dantonio
  • No. 16: James Franklin
  • No. 20: Urban Meyer
  • No. 22: P.J. Fleck
  • No. 24: Jeff Brohm

The B1G’s six names were the highest total among any conference.

The coaches with the highest ranking both came from the state of Michigan, as Harbaugh and Dantonio were the two B1G names in the top 10. Here’s what Forde had to say about the two.

On Harbaugh:

One-man publicity whirlwind has made the Wolverines hyper-relevant very quickly. He also upped the ante on the rest of the sport by taking his team to Rome for spring practice. What will he think of next? Who knows? But one of these days the master plan must include beating Ohio State and finishing better than third in the Big Ten East.

On Dantonio:

He was the king of East Lansing for years, culminating in a Big Ten title and CFP playoff berth in 2015. Then it all went to hell. The Spartans were the biggest bust of 2016, plummeting to 3-9 and sent reeling by a succession of off-field issues. That was enough to seriously dent Dantonio’s previously ironclad status, and it lends urgency to a ’17 rebound effort.

James Franklin and Urban Meyer were in the middle of the pack, ranking No. 16 and No. 20, respectively. The two newest members of the B1G – P.J. Fleck and Jeff Brohm – rounded out the group.

Other important names on the list included Nick Saban, Lane Kiffin, Brian Kelly and Lincoln Riley. Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy topped the list.
