No, college football hasn’t started yet. Yes, we’re still three months away from the season kicking off.

And yes, we already have bowl projections.

In its way too early bowl projections for 2016, Sporting News gave a relatively favorable draw to the B1G. A total of 10 B1G teams were tabbed for bowls, including two in New Year’s Six games.

In fact, every B1G team that made a bowl game in 2015 was put back in the field for 2016. Illinois, Maryland, Purdue and Rutgers were the only teams left out of the field. Three of those teams, of course, have first-year coaches.

Three B1G teams were slotted in the same bowls they played in 2015. Minnesota, Penn State and Wisconsin would all be repeat invitees in Sporting News’ projections.

Based on those projections, it would appear that Ohio State would knock off Michigan for the B1G East title and Iowa for the B1G Championship. Sporting News had Ohio State losing to Alabama in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl, leaving the B1G out of the national championship picture for the second year in a row.
