South Dakota State is on the board first in Frisco.

In Sunday’s FCS National Championship Game, the Jackrabbits drew first blood, scoring a first-quarter touchdown on their second possession of the game. The score gave South Dakota State an early 7-0 advantage on Sam Houston.

Isaiah Davis had an impressive 20-yard run on a 2nd-and-8 from the 21-yard line and was able to punch it into the end zone on the following play. The Jackrabbits needed just 5 plays to drive 41 yards after forcing a Sam Houston fumble.

South Dakota State entered the game with an 8-1 record and defeated Holy Cross, Southern Illinois and Delaware to reach the championship. Sam Houston is 9-0 and notched victories over Monmouth, North Dakota State and James Madison to play for the title.
