The Big Ten placed 10 total players on both of Sporting News’ All-American teams and 4 on the First Team, including Heisman finalist Aidan Hutchinson, Michigan State star back Kenneth Walker III, and a pair of Iowa stars.

Announced Tuesday, the Sporting News All-American team is one of 5 that determines consensus All-American status, along with the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), Associated Press (AP), and Walter Camp Football Foundation. If 3 select a player to their First Team, he receives the consensus honor. If a player is named by all 5, he is a unanimous selection.

So far, the trio of Walker, Hutchinson, and Iowa center Tyler Linderbaum have all been first-team selections for the AP, the FWAA, the Walter Camp Foundation, and now for Sporting News. They all seem to be on track to be named unanimous All-Americans.

Here’s the list of first-team Big Ten players:

  • Kenneth Walker III, Michigan State RB
  • Tyler Linderbaum, Iowa C
  • Aidan Hutchinson, Michigan EDGE
  • Riley Moss, Iowa DB

And those on the Second Team:

  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Ohio State WR
  • George Karlaftis, Purdue DL
  • Leo Chenal, Wisconsin LB
