Staying in the B1G: Illinois transfer WR commits to Northwestern
Donny Navarro is staying in the Big Ten to complete his college football career. The Illinois transfer wide receiver announced his commitment to Northwestern.

Navarro heads to Northwestern with 1 remaining season of eligibility. He began his college football career in 2017 at Valparaiso before transferring to Illinois ahead of the 2018 season, which he sat out due to NCAA rules.
In 3 seasons with the Illini, Navarro recorded 52 catches for 600 yards and 2 touchdowns. This past season, Navarro logged 17 catches for 167 yards. Navarro’s most productive year was in 2019, when he caught 27 passes for 345 yards and 2 TDs.
Navarro is also a punt returner. He returned 16 punts for 121 yards, with a long of 37 yards, in 2021.
Northwestern and Illinois will meet on Nov. 26, the final Saturday of the 2022 B1G regular season, at Ryan Field.
