Super Bowl LV got delayed because a random fan raced onto the field

We almost made it through the entire Super Bowl without seeing any ridiculous, non-football related activities during the game. Almost.

Then, late in the 4th quarter with Tampa Bay owning a 31-9 lead on Kansas City, a random fan at Raymond James Stadium decided he wanted to be part of the biggest sporting event of the year. Someone rushed onto the field, ran past security and delayed Sunday’s game briefly.

In a few videos shared on social media, it appears the fan reached the end zone before he was taken out by security. Maybe that was his goal? To score a “touchdown” in Super Bowl LV. We may never know.

The game was already well in hand and it was late enough in the contest where the moment didn’t swing any momentum, halt a critical drive or cause a major turnover. So at least the fan was somewhat courteous before making his move to the turf.

Tampa Bay went on to defeat Kansas City 31-9, making Tom Brady a seven-time Super Bowl champion.
