Tafara Gapare, 4-star PF and B1G target for 2023, reopens recruitment

Tafara Gapare is an intriguing basketball prospect originally out of New Zealand. After committing to DePaul in June, Gapare has since reopened his commitment on Tuesday, per Joe Tipton with One3.
Gapare has already racked up over 25 scholarship offers since coming to the United States. Out of the B1G, Illinois and Maryland are interested with offers in on Gapare.

The 6-10 New Zealand native previously considered Maryland, Illinois, Virginia Tech, UConn, along with the Overtime Elite league and the Australian NBL.

“I would like to first say thank you to Coach Tony Stubblefield and the entire basketball coaching staff at DePaul University for believing in me and my talents,” Gapare said in a statement shared by On3.
“I am very appreciative of your support, however, after much consideration and talks I have decided to reopen my recruitment. During this time I will weigh other options in addition to DePaul University. Thank you, Tafara Gapare.”
According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, the 6-foot-10 Gapare is a 4-star prospect and the No. 26 PF for the 2023 recruiting class. He is also the 121 overall player nationally for the cycle.
